NETWORK RAIL BREAKS PROMISES OVER PASSENGER ACCESS TO EAST CROYDON STATION
LOCAL RESIDENTS DEMAND TICKET BARRIERS AT THE CHERRY ORCHARD ROAD STEPS ENTRANCE
Addiscombe and East Croydon Residents have endured over ten years of building works and disruption, with the promise that we would benefit from a new entrance to East Croydon Station.
Network Rail has added insult to injury by stating that they have no intention of providing a set of ticket barriers to the station entrance from the new Cherry Orchards Road Steps. Instead, Network Rail expects residents to access the station by the longer route via the existing gates on the Ruskin Square side of the bridge, effectively denying residents quicker access.
If Network Rail gets its way, all residents wanting to enter or leave the station via Cherry Orchard Road steps will face a longer journey, and those with children and mobility issues will suffer the most.
Croydon Council has invested £3million of your money in this bridge. Network Rail must install ticket barriers at the Cherry Orchard Road Steps Entrance to East Croydon Station to ensure Croydon residents get easier access to the platforms.
Addiscombe West Councillors call on residents to oppose Network Rail’s planning application, which fails to provide ticket barriers at the Cherry Orchard Road entrance. We demand Croydon Council reject their penny-pinching proposals that break over 10 years of promises.
You can do this by making an online OBJECTION to the 24/03590/DISC planning application on Croydon Council’s planning portal. Please do so by 13th December 2024
