(Pub)lic House Film Screening

Duration: 30 mins (looping)
Pubs across Croydon have been boarded up, abandoned and left to be empty. Phoebe remembers growing up in them. Roger (her Dad) remembers playing music in them since the early 90s. Compiled through interviews and workshops, see their exploration of the music, stories and sounds that populate(d) these pubs.

Imagine your (pub) drop-in workshop

Map or chat out your pub with the filmmaker, Phoebe – what do you hope your pub(s) to be in the future? Every map and chat will become part of a booklet sent to council members, landlords and key influencers in the legacy of these buildings, with hopes to make them (pub)lic houses again.
6pm-7pm
Save the Glam Campaign informal

Come and learn more about what the campaign has managed to do so far and what they want to do next. Save the Glam seeks to save the Glamorgan pub on Cherry Orchard Road from demolition.

9pm – 11pm

Pub Music Sesh
‘When Hendrix Played the Star’
Roger will host a session of music by local musicians celebrating the history of pub music in Croydon. In the break, Phoebe will open the mic up for you to share your own writing, songs, poems and thoughts responding to the film’s themes. (You might like to hop on the open mic and read or talk about your zine!)
Also, if you can’t make it, do not fear – the film is available to watch NOW, so please do watch from home! And last little mention, my Dad’s written a piece about now closed The Glamorgan pub on Cherry Orchard Road, please do give it a gander and a share.
Once again, thank you for being a part of making this film.
Best Wishes,
Phoebe
